BEWARE OF THE BELTLESS
The stat we got from CDOT kind of freaked me out: having an unbuckled passenger in your car increases your risk of being hurt or killed in an accident by 40%. My illusion of safety was shattered. I started insisting everyone else in my car buckle up, including my dog. There were more than a few eyerolls, although they were usually followed by a reassuring *click*.
As the force with which an unbuckled passenger can move through a car is disturbingly violent, we really wanted to convey that here.
